bio
Alex Hollingsworth is a London-based Musical Director, Playback Engineer and multi-instrumentalist working across live performance and studio environments.
His work spans a range of genres and styles, with artists including Grace Gachot, Erica Manzoli, Tom Abisgold, Charlotte OC and Lettuce Rowbotham, as well as Leaches - an analog, hardware-led electronic project focused on raw, live performance and modular synthesis.
Alex designs and runs playback systems for live shows, and regularly handles in-ear monitor systems as part of the same setup. He often steps in across MD, playback and performance roles (guitar, keys, bass) depending on the show, sitting somewhere between musical direction and technical execution, with a focus on keeping things solid, seamless and stress-free on stage.
Alongside his live work, Alex is an experienced producer, mixer and sound designer. He has worked with artists including Sam Smith, 070 Shake, Ms Banks, Mitch Rowland and Sigala, and with brands such as TikTok, Nike, the BBC and HSBC, delivering production, composition and sound design across a range of projects.
With a background in studio environments including Tileyard London and Octagon Studios, Alex has a strong foundation in audio engineering, analog hardware and multi-DAW workflows. He has collaborated with leading music software companies including Arturia, Native Instruments and Reason Studios, creating presets, soundbanks and educational content. His combined experience across studio and live environments informs a cohesive approach to track-based and playback-driven setups.
